Today I went to Starbucks to work on lyrics to a new song. I’m beginning the new record on Aug. 24th in Nashville, and the goal is to have it done by the 50 States in 50 Days tour.
Well, I ried unsuccessfully for an hour or so to finish the 3rd verse to the song I posted on the “I Support Kevin Montgomery’s 50 States in 50 Days tour” Facebook wall……….so, I gave up and decided to delve more deeply into “My Orange Duffel Bag-A Journey to Radical Change” so that I could come up with some questions to ask Sam Bracken.
I was 100% blown away. Kathy L. Patrick (founder of the Pulpwood Queens-the world’s largest reading and discussing book club) has said it will be a bestseller, and has made it her mission. She died her hair orange after she sold 1,000 copies in the month of June. Now I understand why.
This book reminds me of “An Artist’s Way”…………like “An Artist’s Way” for everyday folks. Sam Bracken shares, in very stark, honest terms, the horrible abuse that he suffered as a child. This book is like a roadmap. A guide for folks that are struggling to cope with their own set of problems. A perfect guide for teens aging out of foster care. Sam gets it. He was homeless as a child, and when he was faced with forks in the road he thankfully took the right path. He is an example that young folks can look to for inspiration. The “7 Rules of the Road” give the reader something actionable to think about.
This book is a must. Buy it now. Here is my video review.

Read the “mission” for the 2010 50 States in 50 Days tour.
